Some Vintage Inspiration

Story telling....

One of the things that we love doing is listening to the stories that people tell us about clothes that mean a lot to them. Sometime it's just a conversation in the shop, or at an event. Sometimes we go further and make some digital stories like these. They're inspirational...take a look and let us know what you think!

Of course, there are other clever and creative ways to capture the magic of vintage. We hooked up with the Wye Valley Writers who spent the evening in our Chepstow shop, with our fabulous volunteer Jo. Inspired by the clothes she showed them, they wrote these wonderful pieces....

And if you've ever fancied using a piece of clothing, an heirloom, or a favourite object to write a story of your own, there is a wonderful chance to do that at the inaugural Abergavenny Writing Festival , with this great workshop....

Writing For Fun ‘Writing Family Stories & Memoir workshop’, Thursday 21st April 3.30-5pm, Kings Arms Hotel, £6.50 . Bring along an object as inspiration for a workshop on capturing family stories and writing memoir. Suitable for all writing levels beginner or old hand.

The festival looks like being a great event. Held in the delightful Kings Arms in the centre of Abergavenny, and with the super Book-ish Crickhowell  as their 'book partner' we are sure it will be the first of many. Don't forget to let us know if you are inspired to write a story involving vintage...we might even publish it on our website!
