Vintage Vision on Tour!

We helped residents and visitors take a trip down Memory Lane recently, when we visited the United Welsh housing scheme at Llys Nant y Mynydd in Nantyglo with our collection of beautiful vintage clothes.

With a wide range of clothes and accessories from the 1930s onwards, it was a chance for everyone present to remind themselves of their own favourite outfits from the past, and to talk about how the way we wear clothes has changed. We don't wear a hat and gloves to do the weekly shop anymore for one thing!

Staff at Llys Nant y Mynydd really entered into the spirit of things by helping to model some of the outfits!  From 1930s evening dresses to 1960s miniskirts, everyone agreed that they looked amazing in clothes that were over 50 years old, but still in fantastic condition. It was also a chance to explain about our not for profit group that takes donated vintage clothing (anything pre 1980) and uses it for talks and events such as this one, as well as selling it on line.

The morning event, organised by one of Blaenau Gwent’s Community Connectors, Jayne Williams-Lloyd, was a great success. One visitor commented…" I′ve thoroughly enjoyed myself. It has been such a treat to see all those lovely clothes – it really took me back! "

We really enjoy doing these talks and events so get in touch if you would like us to come and visit your group!
